After the success of Stars on 45 by Jaap Eggermont in 1980 followed by several music projects, wanted to swim with the wave of success of pop medleys. One of them was the Briton Ken Gold, who produced a 1960s medley under the title Back to the Sixties with studio musicians. Steve Grant, Denise Gyngell and Julie Harris brought the whole thing as a Tight Fit on the stage, whether it is also sung itself unclear. The medley first part went straight to number 4 in the UK and also Part 2 and the associated album came under the British Top 40

Then they tried it with a complete hit song from the 1960s. Producer of the single was Tim Friese- Greene (later with TalkTalk ) and he picked out a song with a long history that had brought several times success. First, the South African Solomon Linda was with his song Mbube from 1939 in his home successfully. 1952 made the Weavers from a text- free doo-wop number and called it Wimoweh and early 1960s wrote George Weiss to the text The Lion Sleeps Tonight. The tokens had in 1961 so a number 1 hit in the U.S., Karl Denver reached the following year number 4 in the UK.

Ten years later, it was Robert John, who reached number 3 in the U.S.. Another ten years later, Tight Fit had a massive hit in early 1982, then throughout Europe. In German speaking countries they reached the Top 10 in the UK and even place 1 In addition to the well-known trio had time Roy Ward, previously sung at City Boy, the tight fit version.

Next followed with a Fantasy Iceland Song of Dutch origin, who came in from the original group, The Millionaires, which thus in the preliminary to the " Grand Prix Euro Vision 1982 " took part. In Tight Fit he sounded as if he had been recorded by ABBA himself. In England and in Germany could thus achieve success.

Then was missing for more successes probably, however, a clear concept and the resistance. Another single and an album in the summer of 1982 even scraped the charts, more singles flopped.
