Tilahun Regassa

Tilahun Regassa ( born January 18, 1990 in Dukem ) is an Ethiopian long- distance runner who specializes in road races.

He grew up with his father in Nazret, after his parents had divorced when he was three years old. After the death of his father Regassa was asked the age of fifteen on their own and spent three years on the road. Eventually, he was discovered by the Athletics Manager Hussein Makke and added to the training group.

Already in his first half-marathon race in September 2008 in Lille scored Regassa a world -class time of 59:36 min. Two months later he finished the Delhi Half Marathon fourth place. In 2009 he won the Bolder Boulder, among other things, and the Falmouth Road Race. In the World Half Marathon Championships in Birmingham, he finished in eleventh place in the individual competition and won a bronze medal in the team competition. At the Delhi Half Marathon, he was again fourth. He also won the Great Ethiopian Run 10 km course record time of 28:36 min.

The 2010 season began for Regassa with a victory at the Zayed International Half Marathon in Abu Dhabi, which earned him a bonus of $ 300,000. With his winning time of 59:19 min he set a personal best and a course record.
