Tilo Baumgartel

Tilo ( * 1972 in Leipzig) is a contemporary painter. He is regarded as representative of the so-called New Leipzig School.

Life

After leaving school he trained as a skilled worker, for machine tools. 1991 to 1994 he attended the School of Visual Arts in Leipzig. 1994 to 1998 he was in the art class painting with Prof. Arno Rink, where he was from 1998 to 2000 master student. Since 1999 he lives and works as a freelance artist in Leipzig. He has taken up residence along with about 80 other artists on the site of the Leipzig Cotton Spinning Mill.

Baumgärtel is a member of the studio project LIGA Berlin. His works are on display at the Museum of Fine Arts in Leipzig, at the Saatchi Gallery and the Von der Heydt - Museum.
