Tim Boggan

Tim Boggan ( born September 25, 1930) is an American table tennis player, functionary and historian. For his services to table tennis, he was honored with the ITTF Merit Award.

Career

Tim Boggan learned the Table Tennis game from his father. However, he only began at the age of 19 years with the serious game. He improved his skill level and occurred in some American tournaments, even against strong players such as Bernhard Bukiet and Erwin Klein.

In 1966 he began writing technical articles in the magazine Table Tennis Topics, the official organ of the American Table Tennis Association USTTA. For 13 years, he published his articles here. In 1970 he was elected Vice - President of the USTTA, two years later, he was for several years its president. As part of the ping - pong diplomacy, he traveled to China in 1971 and then reported in detail on this subject.

In 1983 he was publishing its own magazine called " Timmy's ". Around 1989 he launched the series History of U.S. Table Tennis. While he was a World Cup 1991 Working Group for media ( " ITTF Media Committee ") of the ITTF. In the same year he became an active member of the Association Swaythling Club International.

Private

Tim Boggan was an English professor at New York University. He is married and has two sons, Scott ( b. 1961 ) and Eric ( born 1963 ), who were both U.S. table tennis national team in the 1980s and also played a few years in Germany.
