Tim Daly

Timothy Daly (* March 1, 1956 in New York City, New York as James Timothy Daly ) is an American actor, voice actor and film producer.

Life and career

Timothy Daly was in late winter in the city of New York City in the U.S. state of New York, the youngest child of James Daly, an actor, and Hope Newell, an actress, was born. His sister is actress Tyne Daly. He studied at Bennington College in the U.S. state of Vermont theater arts and literature.

His first appearance on television had Timothy 1966 alongside his father in the TV movie An Enemy of the People. During his studies he was in some plays and also on Broadway later.

After a guest role on the television series Hill Street Blues in 1981, then followed in 1988 his first starring role in the short-lived series Almost Grown. In the meantime, he played alongside Steve Guttenberg, Mickey Rourke, Kevin Bacon and Ellen Barkin in the comedy American Diner by Barry Levinson. In 1987, he starred opposite Barry Bostwick, Julianne Moore and Adam Storke in the mini-series I'll Take Manhattan. In the action-comedy Year of the Comet he starred alongside Penelope Ann Miller one of the main roles.

From 1990 to 1997 Daly played the lead role, Joe Hackett, in the award winning television series flyer. Then he took over the voice of the title character in the animated series Superman, and also in the subsequent films and video games. In 1997 he founded together with J. Todd Harris, the production company Daly -Harris Productions. In the horror comedy Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde from the 1995 Daly starred with Sean Young one of the main roles. Both he and Young were nominated in 1996 for the Golden Raspberry.

2000 followed the lead role of Dr. Richard Kimble in the television series The Fugitive - The hunt continues. For this role he won the 2001 Golden Satellite Award, and he also was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award and the TV Guide Award. For his role in the television drama Edge of America Daly was nominated in 2006 for a Daytime Emmy Award. In the mafia series The Sopranos Daly was in the recurring role as JT To see Dolan and was nominated for his performance in 2007 for an Emmy.

From 2007 to 2012, he played the role of Dr. Pete Wilder in Grey's Anatomy spin-off Private Practice.

Daly was married to actress Amy Van Nostrand since 1982 and has two children. In 2010 the couple divorced. His sister Glynn is married to composer Mark Snow.
