Timeboxing

Time Boxing is a technique of project planning. A timebox is here a fixed time frame for the project or a task in the project.

Based on the overall project is called Timeboxing if the end date of the project specified ( limited ) and therefore the process objectives and content resources are oriented at the time. Often we speak of Timeboxing if the content and scope ( scope) of the project be reduced to still be ready in time. Missing functionality are then often only implemented in subsequent projects.

In agile software development, a single process ( as an element of a schedule ) or a single meeting (see Scrum Meeting) be the subject of Time Boxings: The process is completed by the firm located duration, even if not all the planned content of the task to be completed could. Still open parts are moved or deleted in a subsequent timebox. The purpose of the Time Boxings for agile methods is the efficiency of a project or to increase meetings.
