Timo Pärssinen

Timo Pärssinen ( born January 19, 1977 in Lohja ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who plays for IK in the Swedish Elitserien Timrå since 2006.

Career

Pärssinen started his career in the 1994/95 season the club TuTo Turku in the Finnish SM- liiga. There he played for three seasons, the last, however due to a decline of the team in the 1st Division. In the 1997/98 season, he spent a year with the club Kokkolan Hermes, also in the first division and then played again from 1998 to 2001 in the SM- liiga with the club HPK Hämeenlinna. 1999 won Pärssinen as the best rookie of the season Jarmo - Wasama Memorial Trophy. In the 2001 /02 season Pärssinen played for the first and only time in North America, after he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2001 in the fourth round as 102 of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. In the NHL with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks and in the American Hockey League with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. After this more or less successful season, he moved again for three years in the Finnish SM- liiga for HIFK Helsinki. The 2003/ 04 represented a high point in his national career, when the Finn was elected to the All- Star team of the SM - liiga and received numerous trophies for his individual achievements. Among others, he received the Lasse Oksanen trophy - as the best player of the regular season and the Veli -Pekka Ketola trophy as - scorer. In the 2005/06 season he played in the Swiss National League A in the EV train. Following this he was engaged by Timrå IK of the Elitserien.

Internationally

International Pärssinen played with the Finnish national team at the World Championships in the years 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2007. Doing so, he won two silver medals and took a 4th, 6th and twice the 7th Place.
