Timo Reus

Timo Reus ( born 2 May 1974 in Lahr / Schwarzwald ) is a former German football player. As keeper of SC Freiburg, he completed a total of 14 games in the 1st Bundesliga. Most recently he was VfR Aalen active, where he aufrückte 2009 after the end of his playing career as a goalkeeper coach in the coaching staff.

Career

Reus played in youth when FV Kuhbach and the Offenburger FV. From there he moved in January 1997 to the Oberliga SV Linx, but remained only half a year in Ortenau; after the descent of the Linxer he moved to SC Freiburg. Originally planned as an amateur goalkeeper, he was at the Freiburgers surprising choice goalkeeper in the second Bundesliga and played 23 games there. The SCF was promoted to the Bundesliga and undertook Richard Golz, so Reus had to sit on the substitutes ' bench.

Until 2005, he was the second goalie and came at this time still in 14 Bundesliga games for use before moving to second division LR Ahlen for season 2005/ 06. There he completed 21 games, but the club was relegated at the end of the season. After the descent, he left the Westphalia and was then without a club for a short time, before him the league club FC St. Pauli undertook in September 2006. For goalkeeper Reus did not bring it there, however. In 2007 he went to the club on to the 2nd Bundesliga, without, however, been used.

For the 2008/2009 season moved to Reus VfR basking in the newly founded 3rd Liga, where he also acted as the only substitute goalkeeper. Reus came into the season not used, but the team got down to the Regionalliga. Because his player contract was invalid by descent, Reus then ended his career as an active player. Instead, he was VfR as goalkeeping coach member of the coaching staff under head coach Rainer Scharinger. With the new goalkeeper Daniel Bernhardt, the team reached in the new season with only 19 goals against the direct re-emergence back into the Second Division. By reducing the size of the squad under new coach Ralph Hasenhüttl Timo Reus advanced to the 2011/12 season, in addition to its function as a goalkeeper coach as third-choice goalkeeper back in the squad of players. Without that it was used as such, the team reached at the end of the season the second place and thus promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga.
