Timor Green Pigeon

The Green Dove Timor or Timor Green Pigeon ( Treron psittaceus ) is an arboreal dove from the kind of green pigeons. It occurs only in Timor and the neighboring islands of Atauro, Semau and roti. Their population is considered endangered. While it is still found frequently in East Timor, it seems from their Indonesian habitat, the monsoon forests in the lowlands to be almost gone.

Appearance

The Green Timor pigeon is about 28 cm tall. The male is gray-green; to the chest, rump and upper tail-coverts a little brighter and has gray - black wings with yellow lined coverts. The tail is green in the middle, gray at the edges with a dark band, the under tail-coverts are white with green polka dots. The female is gray with lighter yellow line between wing-coverts and flight feathers.
