Timotei Cipariu

Timotei Cipariu ( born February 21, 1805 in breading, now the town Sâncel, Transylvania, † September 3, 1887 in Blaj ) was a Romanian philologist, journalist and professor of philosophy and theology.

In 1827 he was ordained a priest. In 1836 he traveled with George Barit to Bucharest.

He became one of the most important leaders of the Transylvanian Romanians in their national struggle for emancipation 1848-51.

In 1866 he was one of the founding members of the Romanian Academy.
