Timothy Clement-Jones, Baron Clement-Jones

Timothy Francis Clement- Jones, Baron Clement- Jones CBE, (born 26 October 1949 in Wales ) is a British politician of the Liberal Democrats and Life Peer.

Life and career

Clement- Jones was born in October 1949, the son of Maurice Clement Llewelyn -Jones ( 1917-1988 ) and ( Margaret ) Jean, born Hudson ( † after 1988). He attended Haileybury and Imperial Service College and Trinity College, Cambridge, where he studied economics.

From 1972 to 1974 he was a trainee ( Articled Clerk ) at Coward Chance. He was from 1974 to 1976 Joynson - Hicks Partner at & Co. From 1976 to 1980 he worked as a corporate lawyer in the Letraset International Ltd.. He was from 1974 to 1976 Joynson - Hicks Partner at & Co. From 1976 to 1980 he worked as a corporate lawyer in the Letraset International Ltd.. In 1974 he was admitted as a solicitor and was General Counsel and Head of Legal Services of the LWT from 1980 to 1983. From 1984 to 1986 he was Director ( Legal Director ) of Grand Metropolitan Retailing and 1986-1995 Group Co Secretary of Woolworths Ltd, later Kingfisher plc.

From 1986 to 2008 he was a member of the Trusteeship Council ( Trustee ) and Director of Cancer BACUP. From 1991 to 1995 he was Chairman ( Chairman ) of Crime Concern. Since 1999, Clement- Jones, Chairman ( Chairman ) of Dibb Lipton Alsop and since 1997 in the Environmental Context Ltd..

Clement -Jones was from 1996 to 1999 director of the Political Context Ltd.. from 1997 to 2009 Chairman of the Context Group Ltd. .. From 1996 to 1999 he was a partner at Independent Corporate Mentoring (ICM).

In the international law firm DLA Piper, he was initially CO - Chairman of Government Relations from 1999 to 2009 and since 2010 partner for international business, and since 2011 Managing Partner for London. In the euro Commerce ( Euro Retail Federation ), he was Vice President from 1992 to 1995. From 1982 to 1985 he was Chairman of the Association of Liberal Lawyers.

Early Political Career

From 1986 to 1988 he was Chairman ( Chairman ) of the Liberal Party. From 1988 to 1998 belonged to Clement- Jones of the Liberal Democrat National Executive on. He was 1991-1998 President ( Chairman ) of the Liberal Democrat Finance Committee.

In 1994, he was director of the election campaign for the European elections. From 1994 to 1997 he was deputy chairman of the General Election Group. He was also chairman of the election campaign in London in 2000 and 2004. Clement -Jones was treasurer from 2005 to 2010 ( Federal Treasurer ) of the Liberal Democrats.

Membership in the House of Lords

He was appointed Life peer as Baron Clement- Jones of Clapham in the London Borough of Lambeth on 17 July 1998. The official introduction to the House of Lords took place on 20 July 1998 with the support of Sally Hamwee, Baroness Hamwee and Tim Razzall, Baron Razzall. His inaugural address was delivered on 8 October 1998.

As subjects of political interest he calls on the website of the House of Lords cancer, inner cities, autism, crime prevention, the creative industries, intellectual property and higher education. As states of interest he calls the countries of Central Asia, China, India, Iraq, Turkey and United Arab Emirates.

Clement- Jones was the spokesman for the Liberal Democrats for health 1998 to 2004. From 2000 to 2010 he was Deputy Chairman ( Vice-Chairman ) of the All- Party Autism Group, the All- Party China Group since 2005, of the All- Party Group Turkey since 2010 and the All- Party Group UAE, also since 2010.

He was spokesman for culture, media and sport from 2004 to 2010. Between 2011 and 2012, he was a member of the Speakers' Working Group on All- Party Groups.

From 1981 to 1995 he was Chairman of Crime Concern Advisory Board. He was from 2004 to 2009 Chairman of the Lambeth Crime Prevention Trust. From 2008 to 2012, he was Chairman of the Board of the School of Pharmacy, University of London.

He is currently Director ( Governor ) of Haileybury College, Member of the Executive Board ( Council) of the University College London and member of the Trusteeship Council ( Trustee ) at Space for Giants. In 1988 he became Commander of the Order of the British Empire. He is a member of the Law Society and the Board of the UCL. In addition, Clement- Jones Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, the Public Relations Consultants Association and the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

He was Chairman of Trustees of Treehouse from 2000 to 2008, a school that deals with autistic children, and since 2010 President of the subsequent Ambitious about Autism.

Family

Clement- Jones married on 14 June 1973 Vicky Veronica Yip († 1987), daughter of the late millionaire Teddy Yip. His second wife was married to Jean Roberta Whiteside since 1994. He has a son with his second wife.
