Timothy Herbert

Timothy James Herbert ( born July 11, 1941 in Sheffield, UK ) is an Australian hand surgeon. He developed an internationally recognized classification of scaphoid fractures and along with WE Fisher 1977, the Herbert screw, which still (as of 2011 ) for the treatment of a broken leg Kahn finds use.

Career

He studied first from 1959 - 1964 at St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical School in London, where he then continued his training as an orthopedic surgeon, which he graduated in 1968. Herbert is married to an Austrian since 1965 and has three children. He worked from 1975 at the Department of Hand Surgery at St. Luke's Hospital in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, whose director he was then also.
