Timrå IK Red Eagles, is a Swedish professional ice hockey club based in the city Timrå. The men's team is currently playing in the second division, the HockeyAllsvenskan.

Initially, the club also had a section in the football, which was founded in 1978 and has been decoupled to IFK Timrå. Play their home games of the Hockey Club of the 5,800 -seat E.ON Arena.

History

The club was founded on May 11, 1928, the name Wifstavarnas IK and had a section in hockey since 1938. 1942 united the club with another club from the same place and reached the top flight in 1956. In 1964, another club joined, and two years later the name change to Timrå IK.

For the early 1970s, the team earned top rankings in the championship but in establishing the highest division Elitserien as 1975, the club was relegated. A long time it was mainly in the second division and could only occasionally ascend for one year. At the beginning of the 1990s, therefore, an experiment was started the club with the club Sundsvall Hockey unite. Since no significant progress has been made, the teams parted again.

As of 1995, the association began to increase and in the 1999/2000 season was successful promotion to the top flight. The greatest successes lately were the twice reaching the semi-finals for the Swedish Championship.
