Timur Vermes
Timur Vermes (born 1967 in Nuremberg, Germany) is a German journalist and author.
Career
Vermes was born in Nuremberg in 1967. His father was after the suppression of the popular uprising fled from Hungary in 1956. After high school he studied in Erlangen history and politics. Since then he has worked as a journalist for tabloids like the Munich newspaper or the Cologne Express, and various magazines.
In 2007 he started as a ghostwriter to write books, including a book by a so-called crime scene cleaner with the title What remains from death.
In 2012 he published under the title It's back his debut novel. In the satire he developed a scenario in which Adolf Hitler in 2011 and wakes up in Berlin with performances in various TV shows finds new Zuläufer. After presentation at the Frankfurt Book Fair, the novel rose to number one on the Spiegel bestseller list. The read by Christoph Maria Herbst audio book also reached the top spot. Since September 2012, he has sold over 700,000 copies back (June 2013) and translated into 27 languages. In December 2013 it was announced that Vermes ' bestseller to be made into a film in co-production film directed by Constantin Film and myth. The film is scheduled for release in 2015, Vermes also writes the screenplay for the film.
