Tina Thörner

Kristina "Tina" Thorner ( born February 24, 1966 in Saffle ) is a Swedish rally co-driver.

Career

In 1984 she participated in her first rally events. In 1990, she began her professional motor racing career and has been runner-up in the European Rally Championship and in the Group N World Rally Championship. In the World Rally Championship they already drove with Isolde and Uwe Nittel.

In 1999, Tina Thorner ran her first marathon rally as co-driver Jutta Kleinschmidt in the Mitsubishi Pajero. She finished the Dakar Rally in third place and was thus one of the first women's team, which was able to achieve a position on the podium at this rally.

In 2001 she returned to the World Rally Championship and went as navigator of Thomas Rådström and a year later by Kenneth Eriksson.

From 2003 she worked in the rally-raid team of Nissan and was able to achieve two overall victories, including the Morocco Rally. For the 2005 season changed Thorner for the Volkswagen team and worked together with Giniel de Villiers. She managed together with de Villiers at the 2006 Dakar Rally, a second place in the overall standings, which is their biggest success to date.

In 2007 she went back to the side of Jutta Kleinschmidt, this time in a BMW X3 X- Raid team. The Dakar Rally was less successful for the team. In the end, they finished 15th in the overall standings. In 2008 she was navigator of Nasser Al- Attiyah and piloted him to victory at the Baja Fias Cuo in Italy and in the Rali Transiberico. The team made ​​a successful start into the 2009 Dakar Rally and achieved two stage wins, but was disqualified in the lead in the further course of the rally.

Tina Thorner is a coach of athletes, campaigns against the abuse of drugs and leads trainings through motivation. They also won in 2006 with Andrés Esteche in the Swedish television show Rampfeber, sing at the celebrities, along with singers.

Tina Thorner spent ten years (1997-2007) allied with the Swedish DTM driver Mattias Ekström.
