Tingsrätt

The Tingsrätt in Sweden the lowest instance of general jurisdiction in criminal and civil matters. It is in this respect comparable to a German county or district court. Next highest instance is the Hovrätten, domstolen last instance of the Högsta. The Tingsrätter 1971 were uniformly established throughout Sweden. Previously existed in the larger cities a rådhusrätt and elsewhere of a häradsrätt. The number of Tingrätter decreased from initially 100 to currently (2009 ) 53
