Tinside Pool

The Tinside pool is a unique bathing facility in Plymouth in southwest England, which was created in 1935 in the Art Deco. The basin forms a semicircle and was fed with fresh sea water, so that every four hours took place a complete water exchange. The outdoor pool is located on the shores of Plymouth Sound; it is surmounted by Plymouth Hoe and Smeaton 's Tower. The facility is open between May and September.

During the Second World War, the German pilots striking building served as an orientation mark, while the population of the city the pool after the bombing took for washing off dirt and dust.

Because the number of visitors had fallen sharply, the outdoor pool was closed in 1992. The activity of a citizens' initiative eventually led to the extensive renovation of 1998 in Stage II Listed Buildings listed building. The cost of the renovation were 3.4 million pounds. In 2005, the re- opening took place.
