Tish Hinojosa

Leticia " Tish " Hinojosa ( born December 6, 1955 in San Antonio, USA) is an American singer and songwriter. She sings in English and Spanish in a mixture of genres folk, country ( bluegrass, Tex- Mex ), Pop and Latin Pop.

Biography and artistic work

Tish Hinojosa was the thirteenth and youngest child of Mexican immigrants in Texas to the world. In her youth, she was influenced by the traditional Mexican songs of their parents and the pop and folk music from the radio program of the 60s. When a teenager, she began playing guitar and singing and had soon first public appearances in her Texan environment.

In 1979, she moved to Taos, New Mexico and later to Nashville, Tennessee where they are amplified dedicated to the pure country music. She started with musicians such as Michael Martin Murphey or Bill & Bonnie Hearne work that they encouraged to write their own songs.

In 1987, their first release under the name Taos to Tennessee. Their album Culture Swing from 1992 was honored by the National Association of Independent Record Distributors ( NAIRD ) as Indie Folk Album of the Year. As Tish Hinojosa honor can chalk up also to have been invited by U.S. President Bill Clinton and his wife for a concert at the White House. In her long career Tish Hinojosa has already worked with many famous musicians, in which case Joan Baez, Kris Kristofferson, Dwight Yoakam, Nanci Griffith, Pete Seeger, Flaco Jiménez and Los Lobos are mentioned.

Tish Hinojosa is involved in the humanitarian sector as a spokesperson for organizations such as the National Latino Children's Agenda and National Assoc. Of Bilingual Education or for the United Farm workers of America. She has two children from a previous marriage, and is married to a German since 2007. She lives in Austin, Texas and Hamburg.
