Renaturation

The bog was abgetorft industrially in large part. In the northern area of the moor had been converted to grassland, but which is no longer farmed. For renaturation about a third of the reserve was rewetted. The covered with white pine areas were freed from the nursery. These areas are now breeding and resting places for many, some rare species of birds. The conservation areas are almost completely (564 ha ) to the EU bird sanctuary " Moore at Sittingbourne ." As a local nature conservation authority of the district of Rotenburg acts (Wümme ).
