Titu

Titu is a town in Dâmboviţa county in the Great Wallachia in Romania.

Location

Titu is located in a directory named after the city part ( Câmpia Titu ) of the Wallachian Plain, about 10 kilometers west of the river Dâmboviţa. The district capital Targoviste is located about 35 km north.

History

Titu was first documented in 1635, which today is my finished district Plopu already 1536. 1832 Titu received the right to weekly markets ( Sundays) and a fun fair (September 14 ) to hold. 1876 ​​refers to two schools, opened in 1902 a bank. In the years 1872-1884 was developed in connection with the construction of the railway line Bucharest - Pitesti and Titu - Targoviste around the station - at that time the name Atirnati wore - a new settlement, in 1927 a separate municipality under the name Principele Mihai (after Crown Prince or King Michael I ) was. Population

1831 were counted in Titu Târg 109 families. 1930 lived on the territory of today's about 7,000 people. As of the 2002 census lived in Titu 10,183 people, including 10,024 Romanians and 154 Roma.

Traffic

Titu is located on the National Road (drum National) DN 7 about ten kilometers (direct distance ) north-east of the Romanian Motorway A1 and on the railway from Bucharest to Pitesti. Attractions

The small town of Titu has to have no specific tourist attractions.
