Tivadar Kanizsa

Tivadar Kanizsa ( born April 4, 1933, Szolnok, † November 4, 1975 in Jásztelek ) was a Hungarian water polo player.

Kanizsa played 103 international matches for Hungary. He was with the Hungarian water polo team in 1956 and 1964 Olympic champion and won bronze at the Games in 1960. 1958 and 1962 Kanizsa became European Champion with the Hungarian team.

After 1956, the Hungarian national uprising was brutally suppressed, Kanizsa was one of five players who returned to the Olympics in 1956 immediately after Hungary.

With his hometown club Szolnok Kanizsa won in 1954, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1961 and 1964, the Hungarian Championship in water polo. 1957 Kanizsa was also Hungarian swimming champion over 400 meters and 1500 meters freestyle.

At the age of 42 years Kanizsa was killed in a car accident.
