Tjeldøya

The Norwegian island Tjeldøya at the output of Ofotfjords in the Norwegian Sea. It is almost completely surrounded by the larger neighboring island Hinnøya and separated from it by the narrow Tjeldsundet. The mountainous island has an area of 187 km ² and reaches a height of 1010 m Trollfjellet above the sea. Tjeldøya is connected by a 240 m long bridge with the mainland. Administratively, the island belongs to the municipality Tjeldsundet in Fylke Nordland; Capital of the island (as well as the entire community ) is Get on the northeast coast of the island.
