Tjörnin
Tjörnin (Eng. " pond " ) is a lake in Reykjavík and one of the most famous lakes in Iceland.
Is the town hall of the city on its banks. Also a famous school ( Menntaskóli Reykjavík ), who visited celebrities of the country ( eg the poet Halldór Laxness ), several museums (such as the Icelandic National Museum ) and the University of Iceland are within the lake, as well as the Parliament House ( Alþingishúsið ), the Fríkirkja and the cathedral.
To Tjörnin is a statue of the sculptor Sigurjón Ólafsson, dedicated Ólafur Thors.
The lake is a habitat for geese, ducks, swans and other birds.
