Tobias G. Natter

Tobias G. Natter ( born May 26, 1961 in Dornbirn) is an Austrian art historian and expert on the art of " Vienna around 1900".

Life

Natter studied at the Universities of Innsbruck, Munich and Vienna, and his doctorate in 1988 for Dr. phil. Natter worked at the Historical Museum of the City of Vienna, then fifteen years at the Austrian Gallery Belvedere, most recently as chief curator. For the 1990 re-established Jewish Museum Vienna snake was often worked as a consultant and guest curator. In 2001, he realized at the invitation of the newly founded Neue Galerie New York, the first temporary exhibition on Oskar Kokoschka. 2006-2011 headed snake in the Vorarlberg Bregenz Museum and had the following to October 29, 2013 held the position of museological Director of the Leopold Museum. Natter justified his resignation with the double position of Commercial Director Peter Weinhäupl at the Gustav Klimt Vienna newly established private foundation in 1900 as Chairman of the Board and the related falling out with the Foundation Board of the Leopold Museum.

As an internationally sought-after curator snake in Europe, the USA and Japan, most recently as co-curator at the Musée d' Orsay, Paris, for the success of the exhibition Masculin / Masculin.
