Tobias Svantesson

Tobias Svantesson ( born April 1, 1963 in Malmö, Sweden ) is a former Swedish tennis player.

Life

Svantesson began at the age of seven years with the sport of tennis. He studied in the United States and played for the Florida State University, Oklahoma State University, and Flagler College. In 1985 and 1986 he was a double champion of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, 1986 also champion in singles. In the following year he became a professional tennis player. In 1988 he reached the semi-finals along with Mikael Pernfors of Forest Hills and Libor Pimek the semi-finals of Livingston. His best individual result on the ATP World Tour this year was the quarter-finals participation in Scottsdale, where he was defeated by Mikael smooth Pernfors in two sets. His greatest successes he achieved in 1989 with double tracks in Nancy and in Charleston. In the 1990s he played mainly on the ATP Challenger Tour, where he won five doubles titles between 1990-1993. Its highest listing in the tennis world ranking he reached in 1988 with position 89 in the singles and in 1991 with position 65 in doubles.

His best individual result at a Grand Slam tournament was reaching the second round of the French Open and the U.S. Open in 1988. In the doubles competition, he reached the second round of the Australian Open in 1989 and the French Open in 1992. Moreover, he joined the Australian Open, the French Open and Wimbledon in mixed, but without getting beyond the first round.
