Tobu Railway

Tōbu tetsudō K. K. (Japanese东 武 鉄 道 株式会社, Tōbu tetsudō kabushiki kaisha, Eng. Tobu Railway Co., Ltd.. ) is a Japanese railway company. It is listed on the Nikkei 225, ISIN JP3597800006. Its route network in the Kanto region, apart from the formerly state-owned Japan Railway, the second longest in Japan after the Kinki Nippon tetsudō.

Tōbu tetsudō belongs to Tōbu Group, which in addition to department stores ( Depāto ), bus and taxi companies and businesses in residential, commercial real estate and are in the leisure industry. The name Tōbu is composed of the kanji for east (东) and Musashi (武).

The railway company also operates the Tōbu Dobutsu Kōen (东 武 动物 公园" Tōbu - zoo " ) in Miyashiro and Shiraoka in Saitama Prefecture with the wooden roller coaster Regina and the steel roller coaster Kawasemi.

Route network

The network of Tōbu tetsudō has a total length of 463.3 km and is divided into two separate regions. The main network consists of the outgoing of Asakusa main line and its branches that serve the suburbs of Tokyo to the north and east. A second line power leads from Ikebukuro to the northwest in the Saitama Prefecture. Between the two networks runs the Chichibu tetsudō on whose rails the trains of Tōbu tetsudō be transferred.

Subject to surcharge express trains Tōbu tetsudō go to Nikko, including collaboration with the JR -powered trains from Shinjuku.
