Todd Beamer

Todd Morgan Beamer (born 24 November 1968, Flint, Michigan, † 11 September 2001 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania) was a passenger of United Airlines flight 93 This machine was kidnapped in the context of the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001. Beamer was one of the passengers who wanted to thwart the kidnapping attempt. The plane crashed in a field in Shanksville.

Biography

Todd Beamer attended Los Gatos High School, Wheaton Acasemy, DePaul University, California State University, Fresno and Wheaton College. 2001 he was a budget manager for Oracle and lived in Cranbury (New Jersey) with his wife Lisa Beamer and his two sons David and Drew. His daughter, Morgan Kay was born on 9 January 2002. Beamer and his wife taught at the Sunday school of their church for 6 years.

Flight 93

The UA Flight 93, a Boeing 757 aircraft as, took off at 8.01 clock in Newark. Target was San Francisco. After the flight United Airlines Flight 93 was hijacked by four men who tried he and other passengers with other people to communicate on the ground. At the same time they learned that the World Trade Center and the Pentagon had also been attacked using hijacked airplanes. Beamer tried to talk to the phone installed in the airplane, with GTE Corporation ( General Telephone & Electronics Corporation). He was forwarded to the Director Lisa Jefferson and told her that a passenger had been killed and that the pilot and co- pilot were later forced to leave the cockpit and had been wounded. He was still on the phone when the plane veered to the south- east. Later he added that some passengers " jump on " the hijackers wanted and they wanted to prevent their plan. The passengers had intended to land the aircraft itself. Beamer said with Jefferson memorize Psalm 23. After Jefferson's report beamer last audible words were, "Are you ready guys? Okay, let's roll. " Shortly after 10 clock crashed the flight UA 93.

Heritage

Five places were named after Todd Beamer:

  • A post office in Cranbury,
  • Todd Beamer High School in Federal Way (Washington),
  • The Todd M. Beamer Student Center in Weathon College ( Illinois) and
  • Todd Beamer Park in Fresno ( California).

The post office in Cranbury was born on May 4, 2002 named after Beamer as a result of "Art of Congress " by Rush D. Holt, Jr. It was initiated by U.S. President George W. Bush. The passengers of Flight 93 were given posthumously the 2002 Arthur Ashe Courage Award. The National 9/11 Memorial (at the South Pool, panel S -68) were both honored Beamer and other passengers.
