Todd Thomsen

Todd Thomsen ( * June 24, 1967 ) is an American politician. He represents a constituency which includes the counties of Hughes, McClain, Pontotoc and Pottawatomie, Oklahoma House of Representatives.

Early years

Thomsen played on the football team Oklahoma Sooners, University of Oklahoma between 1985 and 1988 and participated in the national championship.

Political career

In 2006 he won the constituency as a member of the Republican Party to Democrat Darrell Nemecek and was a member of the Parliament of Oklahoma. 2008 Thomsen joined again for re-election and took his platform with the keywords " improving education, lowering taxes and enforcing conservative values ​​in Parliament " together. In November 2008 he was re-elected and serves on the Education Committee, the House Education Committee and is chairman of the Committee on "higher education and careers in technical fields ."

He was the initiator of resolutions aimed against evolution.

In 2009, he gained international attention when he won the Parliament Oklahoma Resolutions 1014 and 1015 presented, which should prevent the invitation of the University of Oklahoma to Richard Dawkins. Dawkins spoke before a crowd in the McCasland Field House near the university and criticized Thomsen sharp. The Oklahoma House of Representatives rejected the resolutions.
