Tokyo International Film Festival

The Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF, Japanese东京 国际 映 画 祭, Tōkyō Kokusai Eigasai ) is the largest international film festival in Asia.

History and Organization

The first festival was held in Tokyo in 1985. The then President of the Jury was the British film producer David Puttnam. Today, over 300 films annually participating in international competition, in special programs for popular and as yet unseen in Japan entertainment films as well as in the film series, Winds of Asia are shown ( for Asian films) and Japanese Eyes ( for new Japanese films).

The Tokyo International Film Festival is organized by the Japan Association for the International Promotion of Moving Images ( UniJapan ). The current chairman of the festival is Tsuguhiko Kadokawa.
