Toledo railway station

The Toledo station ( Estación de Toledo Spanish ) is the City of Toledo in Spain railway station. It is located east from the city.

The station is used for trains in particular to Madrid. Since November 2005, trains to Madrid on the high-speed line Madrid -Toledo, to which the existing route was converted into a 21 km long branch line with standard gauge tracks, which connects at La Sagra to the high-speed line. Operationally, it is a terminal station.

The current station building was completed in 1919 to designs by the architect D. Narciso Clavería y Palacios. It is a five-membered symmetrical building with a large midsection, but in addition a high tower is attached to the west side. On the ground floor of the tower was a royal waiting room. Building and tower are richly decorated with shapes in Mudéjar style, making the building refers to the architectural heritage of the city of Toledo. The station building is an important example for historicizing station architecture.
