Tolla

Tolla is a commune in the French department of Corse- du- Sud in the Corsica region.

Geography

Tolla is largely cut off from the surrounding area in the mountainous terrain above the reservoir fed by Prunelli Lac de Tolla, whose dam was built in the early 1960s. In the course up the valley to the north to reach the Prunelli Gorge. From the Col de Mercujo from can Prunelli valley with the gorge and the lake overlook.

Population

In the village only 113 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) to 25.45 km ². From the early 1960s, when nearly 300 people were registered in Tolla still, until the beginning of the 1990s, the population went back dramatically. Since then it stabilized at a low level. Nearly half of registered at the last count in 1999 Tolla residents were 60 years and older. Only 7% were under 30 years old.

Economy

In addition to the current production by the hydroelectric plant of the reservoir is agriculture with orchards and vineyards of the traditional economy. The wines from AOC Coteaux d' Tolla belong to Ajaccio.
