Tom DiCillo

Life

After graduating from New York University in 1979 DiCillo working since 1980 in the independent film. DiCillo started as a cameraman for Independent Filmmakers, noteworthy for Jim Jarmusch, for which he turned Permanent Vacation (1980 ), Stranger than Paradise (1984) and Coffee and Cigarettes (1986). DiCillo changed in 1991 with Johnny Suede to directing and screenwriting.

Special attention in the German-speaking area was DiCillo's feature-length cinema documentary about Jim Morrison and the Doors, under the title of The Doors 2010: When You're Strange was released in Germany. The film tells the story of the U.S. rock band The Doors from the early days on the beach at Venice Beach in 1965 over the six studio albums up to Jim Morrison's death in 1971 (Speaker: Johnny Depp ). The feature pages of major German newspapers -reviewed the " sensational [n ] Documentary " - even in direct comparison with other films at the same band - usually very positive, such as the Süddeutsche Zeitung: " The recordings of legendary songs, of, Light My Fire ' to, People are Strange, ' you're so close to it that Oliver Stone's 1991 acts resulting film version, however, plenty of eccentric, ridiculous and artificial. Since 2006 he occurs primarily as a director of television series in appearance. He directed episodes of Criminal Intent - Crime Scene Investigation, The Good Wife, Lights Out, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Los Angeles and Chicago Fire.
