Tom Mintier

Tom Mintier is an American reporter and journalist.

Mintier became known worldwide when he the explosion of the U.S. space shuttle Challenger commented live on 28 January 1986 for the news channel CNN as the only reporter around the world.

He made Tom Mintiers first experience in 1972 WBNSTV in Ohio as a cameraman. He went to the University of Louisville in 1981 and made his degree in journalism.

Mintier worked from 1981 to 2004 for CNN. He then moved on to Thai News Network ( TNN ). Since 1 July 2008, he has worked for The Times Amata.

He worked as a reporter for many events live on site, including The 1989 Tiananmen Square Massacre in Beijing in November 1989 at the Brandenburg Gate at the Berlin Wall, the invasion of U.S. troops in Panama and the United States Central Command near Doha, Qatar in the Iraq war in 2003.

Furthermore, he was bureau chief in London and Bangkok.

Mintier received an Emmy for his coverage of the Tiananmen Square Massacre and the attack at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.
