Tom Monaghan

Thomas Stephen "Tom" Monaghan ( born March 25, 1937 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA) is an American entrepreneur.

Tom Monaghan founded as a student in 1960 Domino's Pizza and sold the company in 1998. From 1983 to 1992 he was owner of the Detroit Tigers, a major league baseball team of the American League.

In 1983 he founded the Foundation " Ave Maria Foundation " and supported numerous projects of the Roman Catholic Church in the U.S., particularly in Catholic education. He founded in 1987 " Legatus ", an association which " bears witness to the faith in the business, professional and personal life."

In 2003 he founded Ave Maria University in Ave Maria in Naples (Florida). The 2007 -based campus is located in the newly founded city he Ave Maria, the first Catholic city founding of the United States. The Ave Maria University, the first Catholic university founded in the United States since 1966. The University has a strict Roman Catholic code of honor. It is planned to University for about 6,000 students ( 2020).

He is married to Marjorie Zybach since 1962; from the marriage were born four daughters.
