Tom Noonan

Tom Noonan ( born April 12, 1951 in Greenwich, Connecticut ) is an American actor, director and screenwriter.

Life and achievements

Noonan graduated from the drama school at Yale University. He founded in 1983 the Paradise Theatre and performed in numerous plays. His first film role was alongside Michael Ontkean in the comedy Willie and Phil from the year 1980.

In the thriller Gloria, the gangsters Bride ( 1980) by John Cassavetes Noonan starred with Gena Rowlands, in the Western Heaven's Gate - The Gate to Heaven (1980 ), he starred opposite Kris Kristofferson, Christopher Walken and John Hurt. In the thriller Blood Moon (1986 ) he played the role of known as Red Dragon serial killer Francis Dolarhyde. In the action-comedy Last Action Hero (1993 ) he played the role of known as The Ripper murderer who is hunted by Jack Slater ( Arnold Schwarzenegger ).

In the comedy What Happened Was ... (1994 ) Noonan appeared not only in one of the main roles, but also directed and wrote the screenplay. For the screenplay, he received in 1994 two awards at the Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for the 1995 Independent Spirit Award. Also in the comedy The Wife ( 1995), he participated as actor, director and screenwriter, for which he was nominated in 1995 for a prize at the Sundance Film Festival.

Noonan was married to actress Karen Young. He is the brother of John Ford Noonan.
