Tom Priestley

Tom Priestley ( born April 22, 1932 in London ) is a British editor and sound editor.

Life

Priestley is the son of writer John Boynton Priestley. He began his career as an assistant editor in the early 1960s. From 1964 he worked as a stand-alone cutter. In addition, he served several times as a sound editor. As editor, he was involved in more than 20 productions.

In 1966 he received an award from the British Academy Film Award for Best British Film Editing category for protest.

For his work on Deliverance the first Priestley was nominated for the 1973 Academy Award for Best Editing. He also received a nomination for the British Academy Film Award.

After the 1987 film produced The last few days in Kenya Priestley retired from the film business and took care of the literary legacy of his father. He has been involved in 1997 was J. B. Priestley Society, which he is chairman as well.

His son, Tom Priestley Jr. has worked as a cameraman.
