The 827 km long Tom (Russian Томь, fem, German and mask ) is a right tributary of the Ob in the southern West Siberia in Russia.
The river arises in between Westsajan, Altai and Kuznetsk Alatau Abakangebirge located just a few kilometers from the long spring-fed streams Prawaja Tom ( " Tom rights " ) and Lewaja Tom ( " Tom left "). It partly flows along the western edge of the Kuznetsk Alatau in predominantly north-westerly direction over Meschduretschensk, Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo and Jurga through the Kuznetsk Basin, past the cities of Tomsk and Sewersk to its confluence with the Ob.
The river Tom, who is more than a kilometer wide estuary near the origin and overcomes 835 m height difference to the mouth, has a catchment area of approximately 62,000 km ². The average discharge at the mouth is 1100 m³ / s The largest tributaries are Mras - Su and Kondoma from the left.
