Tomáš Galásek

Tomáš Galásek [ tɔ̹ma ː ʃ ː gala sɛk ] ( born January 15, 1973 in Frýdek- Místek ) is a former Czech football player and was captain of the Czech national team.

Career

Stations of the defensive midfielder Banik Ostrava were, Willem II Tilburg and last Ajax Amsterdam. With the Dutch Galásek was twice national champion and twice Cup winners in six years. With the Czech national Galásek took part in the 2006 World Cup.

After his contract expires, he joined the 2006/07 season in the 1st Bundesliga for two years until 1 FC Nuremberg. In the 1-1 draw of the 1st FC Nuremberg at Alemannia Aachen the Czechs scored the first Bundesliga goal. He was considered one of the major players and was responsible for the build-up play. In his first year in Nuremberg, the team succeeded in winning the DFB Cup.

After the departure of Raphael Schäfer for VfB Stuttgart Galásek was for the 2007 /08 season unanimously elected as the new team captain. This season, he was also the player with the most appearances for the club, but did not reach the performance of the preseason. At the end of the descent of the association was to the 2nd Bundesliga. Galásek Nuremberg was the only without a contract for the second league, and although he wanted to stay, no new one has been signed, so that his time was over in Franconia.

Despite the announcement to end his playing career, he moved on the last day of the exchange period for 2009/10 season for Bayern division club FSV Erlangen- Bruck. There, he scored on 1 November 2009 his first league goal against SpVgg Unterhaching II In July 2012, he announced end of his career.

As a member of the cup winning team of 2007 the 1st FC Nuremberg, chapter 6 in the cult book is the Vampire legend named after him according to his former shirt number.
