Tomáš Kaberle

Tomáš Kaberle ( born March 2, 1978 in Rakovníka, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech professional ice hockey player who is currently in the Czech Extraliga HC Kladno played bem. Kaberle comes from a traditional hockey family, he is the brother of František Kaberle junior, who currently plays for HC Pardubice and the son of Frantisek Kaberle Sr., who was an international success in the 1970s for the Czechoslovakian national team.

Career

The 1.83 m tall defender played for six years for the Czech club HC Rabat Kladno before he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1996 as the 204th player in the eighth round by the Toronto Maple Leafs.

First, at the Toronto farm team St. John 's Maple Leafs used in the AHL, graduated from the links Sagittarius in the season 1998/99 his first NHL games. After good performances in the following years Kaberle was finally elected to the World Team of the 52nd NHL All-Star Game in 2002. His second All- Star Game Kaberle completed in 2007, when he was in the team of the Eastern Conference.

Overall Kaberle returned twice more to his club back, including during the 2004/ 05 lockout season. On 11 February 2006 Tomáš Kaberle extended his contract in Toronto for another five years, the contract value it amounted to 21.25 million U.S. dollars.

In February 2011, the Toronto Maple Leafs gave him a transfer business in exchange for Joe Colborne, from a first-round vote in the NHL Entry Draft in 2011 and a conditional second-round performance suffrage NHL Entry Draft in 2012 to the Boston Bruins. In the 2010/11 season Kaberle won the Bruins the Stanley Cup. On 1 July 2011, the Czech was available as a free agent, so the Carolina Hurricanes took him on 5 July 2011 on the signing of a three-year contract that guarantees him an average salary of 4.25 million U.S. dollars per year.

In December 2011, the Carolina Hurricanes him transferred in exchange for Jaroslav Spacek to the Canadiens de Montréal. During the lockout in the 2012/13 NHL season he completed ten games for the HC Kladno. In June 2013 his contract was paid in advance of the Canadiens de Montréal ( buy out ). Kaberle plays since then again for the HC Kladno.

Internationally

For the Czech national ice hockey team Kaberle was at the World Championships in 1999, 2003, 2005 and 2006 on the ice, he also took part in the World Cup of Hockey in 2004 and won with the Czech team the bronze medal at the 2006 Olympics in Turin.
