Tomasz Kuszczak

Tomasz Mirosław Kuszczak [ tɔmaʃ kuʃtʃak ] ( listen? / I ) ( born March 20, 1982 in Krosno, Poland ) is a Polish footballer. He plays the position of goalkeeper.

Career

The 1.90 m wide Kuszczak started his professional career in 1999 at the Polish club Slask Wroclaw. In 2000, he came as a promising talent on the KFC Uerdingen 05 to Hertha BSC, where he, however, in the Bundesliga was never used.

When his contract expired at Hertha, he moved free transfer to the Premier League for West Bromwich Albion. In his first season he played, although only three games, but was in his second year goalkeeper.

On 30 May 2006 Kuszczak was also the first time brought because of its very good performances in the Premier League by then- coach Pawel Janas Poland in the Polish national team for a friendly match against Colombia, where he came on in the second half. His first international match was but rather less successful. He made a curious goal in the 1-2 defeat by Poland to 2-0 when he rated a deduction of the Colombian goalkeeper Luis Martínez on the entire playing field across wrong: The ball seemed to him the first time on the field and jumped from there over him to the Polish goal. This curious goalkeeping error went around the world and so Kuszczak was on unpleasant way to fame.

Was all the more surprising that coach Paweł Janas nevertheless waived in the nomination for the squad for the Soccer World Cup 2006 Jerzy Dudek on and Kuszczak certain to number two behind goalkeeper Artur Boruc of Celtic Glasgow.

After the World Cup Kuszczak was loaned to Manchester United. His first Premier League game for the "Red Devils " he played on 17 September 2006 against Arsenal, in which he, inter alia, a penalty held. Nevertheless, his appearances were limited in Manchester on a few games where he got however mostly excellent reviews. In 2007, he was finally obliged by Manchester United to replace in the next few years the years of goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, who will then end his career. So far, Tomasz Kuszczak completed 32 Premier League games, 11 Champions League games, nine FA Cup matches and 10 League Cup games for Manchester United.

On 21 February 2012 Manchester United announced that Kuszczak will loan until end of season to FC Watford. On 1 June 2012, United announced that it will terminate the cooperation end of the season. On June 19 2012 Tomasz Kuszczak has signed a two -year contract with Brighton & Hove Albion.

In the Polish national team, he was only number three behind Artur Boruc and Łukasz Fabiański the last Polish national coach Leo Beenhakker. When new coach Franciszek Smuda he was in the meantime the number one. But was not appointed in the recent past.
