Tomatlán

Tomatlán is a municipality in the Mexican state of Jalisco in the Región Costa Norte. The municipality had the Census 2010 35.050 inhabitants; the area of ​​the Municipalities is 3023.6 km ².

Greatest place in the municipality and administrative headquarters is the same Tomatlán, more cities with at least 1500 inhabitants are José María Morelos, Campo Acosta, José María Pino Suárez and La Cruz de Loreto. Overall, the municipality comprises 186 villages.

The municipality borders the Municipalities Tomatlán Cabo Corrientes, Talpa de Allende, Cuautla, Ayutla, the Purification and Villa La Huerta and the Pacific Ocean.

The municipal area is largely flat with a 45 km long coastline. In the northeast it has a share in the Sierra Volcánica transversal where altitudes between 600 m and 2100 m can be achieved. Almost 70 % of the municipal area is wooded, 13 % are cattle economical pasture, a further 7% are used for agriculture.
