Tomislav Karamarko

Tomislav Karamarko ( born May 25, 1959 in Zadar, Croatia) is the president of the Croatian Democratic Union.

Career

Tomislav Karamarko was born in the days of the former Yugoslavia in the Croatian coastal town of Zadar. He studied at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zagreb in the History Department, where he graduated in 1985. From 1987 to 1988, he worked as a historian and archivist at the State Archive of Croatia.

1992 Karamarko was commissioned under the former Croatian Prime Minister Josip Manolić with the duties of Head of Cabinet of Use. Served in this office Karamarko under the former Prime Minister of Croatia Franjo Gregurić. At the same time, in the years 1992/93, under the Croatian President Stjepan Mesic.

From 1993 to 1996 Karamarko became head of the Zagreb's police authority. In 1998 he was working as assistant to the Innenminsisters the Republic of Croatia, only to be worked from 2000 as a representative of the Election Commission for the then presidential candidate Stjepan Mesic as traded.

Karamarko was advisor to the newly elected president of Croatia in matters of national security also in 2000. Between 2002-2004 Karamarko worked in the private sector. In 2008 he was appointed Croatian Minister of the Interior. This office he led to the change of government in December 2011. Since May 2012 he has been chairman of the HDZ ( Croatian Democratic Union).
