Tonicization

A bill modulation is a section of a piece of music, which as a modulation behaves, but ultimately the tonal center does not leave or returns to him.

Characteristics of the apparent modulation are secondary dominants, sequences, and stereotyped passage work, which is often not wanted and thematically, to identify the transitional character of the section.

Apparent modulations find for example in the sonata use when the page set of the recapitulation appears in the home key of the sentence, for the sake of formal logic and proportion but not on this - may be omitted part - in the original modulating exposure.

Often away the apparent modulation at the beginning far from the home key to actually modulate back to her, so that the impression is maintained by harmonic motion.
