Toño Rosario

Toño Rosario ( born November 3, 1955 Dominican Republic), actually Máximo Antonio del Rosario, also known as El Cuco, El Kukito, El Rey Del Merengue, El Rompe El Puerta or King Kong Del Merengue is a known Merenguemusiker, composer, songwriter and producer. Toño Rosario is one of the most successful artists of the tropical merengue all time. He won five Grammy and sold over 100 million albums worldwide.

Career

Toño Rosario has a Dominican father and a Puerto Rican mother and founded in 1978 with his brothers, the group Los Hermanos Rosario. In 1990 he left the group and started a solo career. He made his debut appearance on 14 April 1990 at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum in Puerto Rico. He became the most popular Merenguemusiker and his record sales reached diamond status. In the U.S., his music was very successful. His song " Alegria " was played at the home games of the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park in Detroit, when the baseball player Omar Infante came into play. Toño Rosario was among the first Merenguekünstlern that reached a sold-out concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
