Top of the Pops
Top of the Pops was an international music show for young people. The concept comes from the BBC from Great Britain. It mainly current charts were presented from the area of pop and rock ( mainstream ). On 20 June 2006 the BBC announced that the show is canceled after 42 years due to falling viewing figures in the UK. The last weekly program was broadcast by the BBC on 30 July 2006, but it is still produced as an annual Christmas special.

United Kingdom
The program was broadcast on the BBC from 1964 to 2006. The show was hosted by Fearne Cotton last.
Currently the old episodes of the British original on the BBC Four in Germany and will be broadcast einsfestival on the transmitter.

Germany
In Germany the show was first broadcast on RTL on 13 April 1998 as Special. Since 19 September 1998, the show ran on Saturday at 17:45 clock. At times, there were weekly changing prominent co-moderators. On 8 April 2006, RTL broadcast after 8 years from the 355th and final episode of the German edition of Top Of The Pops.

It was also the same journal, the " Top Of The Pops " magazine, available (photos and posters, interviews with the stars, backgrounds and lyrics ), which, despite setting the TV format was still prevalent for some time on the market. The youth magazine from 2000 monthly in Egmont Cultfish Media Verlag among the editors Sandra stumbling (2000-2002), Jasmine Kreulitsch (2002-2006) and Mateja Strasek ( since 2006).
