Topological property

A topological invariant or topological property is a joint property of topological spaces which are homeomorphic to each other in the mathematical branch of topology.

Since homeomorphisms are excellent equivalence relations in topology, spaces can be distinguished by means of topological invariants: to prove that two topological spaces are not homeomorphic, it suffices to find a topological invariant, which is different for the two rooms. For example, areas with a different number of open sets are topologically different.
