Torben Giehler

Torben Giehler (* 1973 in Bad Oeynhausen ) is a German painter.

Life

His father Heinz -Peter Giehler is real estate business in Bad Salzuflen. Torben Giehler studied from 1995-1999 at the School of the Museum Of Fine Arts, Boston and the New York Studio Program in New York. In 1999 he showed his final works in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. After graduating, he moved to New York City, where he lived until 2009. Since 2009 he lives and works in Berlin.

Work

His works have been shown in numerous international exhibitions in galleries and museums. He was represented at the 2005 Prague Biennale, and in " Greater NY " at MoMA PS1 in New York and in 2003 had a solo exhibition at the Centro de Arte Salamanca in Spain. Furthermore, his works were in prestigious group exhibition, such as in PAINTING PICTURES at the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg, in " abstract art now" at the Wilhelm Hack Museum in Ludwigshafen, in the Cleveland Museum of Art, New Orleans Museum of Art and the Museum of Fine Art exhibited in Boston. In 2008 he received the Falkenrot price with a comprehensive solo exhibition at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin.
