Torborg Nedreaas

Torborg ( Aud ) Nedreaas ( born November 13, 1906 in Bergen, † 30 June 1987) was a Norwegian writer. She wrote fiction, poetry and drama. In her works she deals among other things with class differences, woman fates, poverty and war.

Life

Officials daughter lived first in Bergen, where she worked from 1923 as a music teacher, later in Leirvik in Fylke Hordaland. The place Leirvik they already visited several times as a child, is the scene of many of her works. Her first book, the short story collection Før det ringer tredje gear, they published until 1945. They was influenced among others by Honoré de Balzac Literature, Alexander Lange Kielland and Maxim Gorky.
