Tornadoes of 2011

The tornadoes in 2011 cost especially in the United States, several hundred lives. Other events have also been reported from Greece and Bangladesh.

United States

As of April 29, 2011 1082 tornadoes were reported in the United States, of which 540 were confirmed. The 2011 season was one of the deadliest in U.S. history.

  • On April 9, 2011, a tornado hit Mapleton, Iowa.
  • On April 14, 2011 Tushka, Oklahoma, was hit.
  • On April 27, 2011, a tornado crossed the city of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. On this day, a series of 139 tornadoes were reported in 10 states, in which several hundred people were killed.
  • On 22 May 2011, a tornado hit the town Joplin, Missouri. More than a hundred people were killed.

New Zealand

  • On 3 May, a tornado in Auckland occurred, there were two deaths.
