Torreciudad

Torreciudad is a place of pilgrimage of Aragon. It is located in the municipality Secastilla. The location on the eastern shore of the reservoir above Embalse de El Grado place offers excellent views of the Pyrenees.

History

Torreciudad that is to go back to a hermitage dating from the 11th century, was the founder of Opus Dei, Josemaria Escriva, built and inaugurated in 1975 as Our Lady of Torreciudad (Our Lady of Torreciudad ). The sanctuary was designed by the architect Heliodoro Dols, who also oversaw the construction.

Equipment

In the vast nave is a modern alabaster altar of the Spanish sculptor Joan Mayné is with scenes from the life of Mary. In the crypt is a chapel of the Holy Family. The site houses the old statue of Our Lady of Torreciudad from the old hermitage.
